It's Growing

Slowly but surely, it's this block is starting to take shape. Not as fast as I'd like but it'll do. It's hard focusing lately, too much job related stuff sucking the life out of me. ;) I was so engrossed in getting a project done yesterday that I totally forgot that I had told Greg we would go swimming. I came home an hour late and there he is sitting on the sofa in his swimming trunks with one of our inner tubes around his waist cross stitching. It was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. LOL

So far on these blocks the bottoms are always the hardest...maybe it's a hint that I should start at the tops? ;p Just kidding! I love the colors for this one and can't wait to see it take more shape. :D It's definately a long project but well worth all the work.

Annemarie: I think it's great that you are doing this as a SAL and thanks for the encouragement about the lines! My hubby said the same thing, but since when do I listen to him? ;p (Juuuuust kidding.) My main comment about the newest Tour scandal is to wait and see. I don't want to condem an innocent rider, but I also don't want to voraciously defend him only to get slapped in the face with the truth of it. If it was anything but an testosterone imbalance I don't think I'd begin to believe him. But I have to ask myself what good would it do him to take it "during" the race, especially when he's been clean up to that point. Some people say "desperation"... personally I think it's just possible that his natural levels were just way high. If you watched that stage he was kicking ass and taking names all day, in other words he was mad and aggressive. You could see it when he finished the race, hell a day like that is bound to give *any* guy a *huge* rush of testosterone. But, I'm going to wait and see, cuz if the lab does it's job on the level then they can tell if it was a natural or synthetic high that got him across the finish line.

Have a great weekend!

Lost in the Plains

In case you missed me, I'm back! And if you didn't, I'm still back. LOL, LOL

Work has been mind blowing these last few weeks, with a big finish by the end of this week. I will be glad when all that's left of this one is the paper dust. :D

In stitching news - I had to go out of town last week for 3 days so that slowed my progress down quite a lot. As a matter of fact it stalled it out. All the forward progress I had been making came to a grinding halt. BUT - I am getting back into the swing of things and am now working on block 1. :D And I got all the blocks outlined so that will save time as I go along. Right now it reminds me of an Advent calendar waiting for the days to be filled in. LOL

Here is the progress on block 1. It' s not much but it's a start! :D

I was hoping to have this completed by September, but I don't know if that will happen...it's wide open right now. :D

Speaking of wide open, the Tour de France blew me away last week. That come back by Floyd Landis on Thursday was awe inspiring. And I had to cheer him on cuz he just blew the competition away. :D I was glad to see him win, he worked so hard for it and with his upcoming hip replacement it's dicey whether he'll be able to race again. I don't know how someone who can't easily walk up a flight of stairs can ride 2000 miles in 3 weeks, but he did it. It's definately an inspiration for all the couch potatoes out there. ;) (Me included.)

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

A Whole Neighborhood

Finally! I got the middle row done! Whew! That was a task and a half. Seems it's taken forever to get through these first 4 houses. But it is looking good. Here is the latest finish:

I think this is my favorite of all 4. The blue house is nice, but this one just has something about it that I like. I think that I am going to spend the time to put in all the blocks before starting the next house. It will take a bit of time, but it will also be out of the way and with the first 4 established it won't be as hard to get the rest situated.

And because someone was curious to see what the whole thing is looking like:

I think that when it's all done it will be very impressive. Right now I'm just a bit overwhelmed with it. ;)

We went to see Pirates and I wasn't a bit disappointed! Johnny Depp is epic, I think this is the best character I've ever seen him play. He just seems to enjoy it so much. It was a hilarious show, LOVED the story and LOVED the ending. Can't wait to see the next one out in 2007. The critics can rag it all they want but I thought it was *better* than the first one. :D

On the Road Again

It's that time again! Everyone else is excited about the World Cup, but ME...I'm salivating over the Tour de France! (LOL) I mean what's not to love? Beautiful European vistas AND buff guys in tight shorts riding bikes... (LOL, LOL) Plus, I always seem to get a lot more stitching done during the tour than any other time. I'm sure it's cuz my butt is planted in front of the tv solidly for 3 straight weeks, but I like to imagine that these guys inspire me with all their hard work and dedication to their sport. (Okay, I confess it's the tight shorts.) ;D I had thought that this year's tour would be a bit boring since Lance Armstrong is gone and the other top riders would swoop in and steal the show. I just never imagined just HOW they would steal the show. Imagine my shock when 9 of the top riders were dropped from the tour as part of a doping scandal on the day before the race was to start. N I N E. And these are not insignificant riders these were the guys that were in contention to win. Let's just say it changed the whole race and each day that we watch you can see it. It's a wide open race, anyone could win and that makes it VERY exciting.

So we had a long weekend what with the 4th of July and taking a day off. So I did get a bit of stitching in and have made good progress on my latest house. Still would like to be faster but I'm only human. ;)

No major complaints on this block, the bottom was definately tricky but once past that it's just time consuming. The colors look good! I hope to speed through this one soon, but with a lot of demands at work we will have to see. :D

The weekend is close at hand and Pirates starts on Friday. I probably won't see it till Sunday, but I can't wait. The snippets I've seen look excellent.

Hope your week is going great!
